Chalk Bluff Road Improvements

Laramie County, in partnership with contractor Connell Resources Inc., will begin a major road improvement project on Chalk Bluff Road in late April. The project will begin at the intersection of Chalk Bluff Road and US Highway 85, just south of Cheyenne, and extend approximately nine miles east along Chalk Bluff Road toward the community of Carpenter.

The project includes rebuilding and widening approximately nine miles of roadway as part of the county’s ongoing efforts to enhance transportation infrastructure and support responsible growth. As the region continues to expand, improvements to key corridors like Chalk Bluff Road help keep communities connected and support local economic activity.

Construction will provide several benefits to the community, including smoother pavement, wider travel lanes and improved overall safety. These upgrades are designed to reduce crash risk, particularly in areas that are currently narrow or deteriorating. The improved roadway will also better accommodate larger vehicles, such as farm equipment and service trucks, making travel safer and more efficient for all users.

Construction is anticipated to be completed in November 2026.
